Model identification

Where is my refrigerator model number?

Find the rating plate before matching error codes, ordering parts, or using a model-specific reset procedure.

Common rating-plate locations

Look inside the fresh-food compartment, around the upper side walls, behind drawers, or on a cabinet label.

What to write down

  • Model number: identifies the product family and configuration.
  • Serial number: may identify production date or factory batch.
  • Product / PNC / service number: some brands use an additional identifier for exact parts and documentation.
Do not dismantle a built-in appliance, pull a heavy appliance out alone, or reach near live electrical parts just to read a label. Check purchase paperwork, registration records, or the manufacturer’s support tools first.

Use the number to confirm an error code

Once you have the full model identifier, use the manufacturer support page or owner manual to confirm the exact code meaning and service procedure.
