Installation
Installation mistakes that can look like appliance failures
Before replacing parts, check whether the appliance has the supply, drainage, airflow and clearances it was designed for.
| Appliance | Installation issue | Possible symptom | Safer response |
|---|---|---|---|
| Washer | Transit/shipping bolts left installed | Violent vibration, movement, noise. | Remove only per installation instructions before normal use. |
| Washer | Incorrect drain-hose height/depth | Siphoning, slow drain, refill/drain loops. | Match manual standpipe/hose requirements. |
| Dishwasher | No required high loop/air gap | Dirty-water backflow, odour, drain issues. | Follow local code/manual installation. |
| Dishwasher | Supply/drain hose kinked | Fill/drain errors. | Route without crushing/kinks. |
| Dryer | Crushed/restricted vent | Long dry time, overheating, safety risk. | Use approved venting and keep path clear. |
| Refrigerator | Insufficient ventilation clearance | Long run times, high temperatures, poor efficiency. | Maintain manufacturer clearances. |
| Refrigerator | Not level / doors misaligned | Door-seal issues, condensation, poor closing. | Level and align per installation guide. |
| Oven/range | Incorrect electrical/gas installation | Performance and serious safety issues. | Use qualified installation and exact rating requirements. |
Gas and fixed electrical connections: Use appropriately qualified installers/service personnel. Installation requirements vary by country, appliance rating and building system.
