Behaviour guide
Is this normal?
Many appliance behaviours sound strange until you know the operating sequence. The red flags are what matter.
Refrigerator
Warm refrigerator sides
Condenser heat can make external surfaces warm; extreme heat, burning smell or cooling loss changes the picture.
WasherWasher pauses mid-cycle
Load sensing, soaking, heating, balancing and control transitions can create pauses.
DishwasherDishwasher clicking
Valves, relays, dispensers and drain components can click briefly.
RefrigeratorRefrigerator runs for a long time
Hot weather, new loading, door openings and initial cool-down can extend run time.
DryerDrum moves during cooldown
Some dryers tumble without heat to cool clothes and reduce creasing.
Normal can become abnormal when: The behaviour is new and severe, the appliance stops performing its job, an error code appears, there is smoke/burning smell, a leak develops, or electrical protection trips.
