Washer Pauses During a Cycle: Normal or a Problem?
Washers can pause for load sensing, soaking, heating, balancing, draining or control transitions. The display may continue counting or may hold briefly.
Often normal when
- Programme resumes without intervention.
- Pause occurs consistently at the same normal stage.
- No error code, leak, smell or repeated lock/unlock fault occurs.
Investigate when
- Pause becomes indefinite or requires power cycling.
- An error code appears.
- Standing water remains when the machine should drain.
- Repeated clicking/locking with no progress occurs.
Use your exact manual: Manufacturers intentionally program different pauses, fans, anti-crease periods and cooling behaviour. Model documentation is the final reference.
