Maintenance
A simple appliance maintenance calendar
Use a predictable schedule for filters, seals, vents, hoses, cleaning, recall checks and records.
| Frequency | Appliance | Typical owner task |
|---|---|---|
| After each use / frequently | Dryer | Clean lint filter; check for unusual heat/smell; keep airflow path unobstructed. |
| Weekly–monthly | Washer | Wipe seals/dispenser; air the drum when permitted; check visible hose/leak condition. |
| Weekly–monthly | Dishwasher | Inspect/clean filter and spray-arm openings per manual; remove debris. |
| Monthly | Refrigerator/freezer | Check door seals, temperatures, blocked internal vents and ice/water leaks. |
| Quarterly | All appliances | Inspect plugs/cables/hoses and surrounding ventilation; review saved maintenance notes. |
| 6–12 months | Vented dryer | Inspect/clean exhaust duct and outside termination at an interval appropriate to use and manufacturer guidance. |
| 6–12 months | Refrigerator | Clean accessible condenser area if the model manual specifies user cleaning. |
| Annually | All | Review recalls, warranty/registration details, model/serial photos and service history. |
Manufacturer instructions win: Maintenance intervals and user-accessible tasks vary. Never open panels or clean internal electrical/mechanical areas unless the manufacturer explicitly identifies them as user-maintenance items.
